| Welcome to the first installment of the Random Hacks series. I will be giving you little hacks to boost up your computer and fool around (nothing serious). QUICK START BUTTON XP HACKFirst you will need to click on start and then click run. After doing so you will have to type in regedit. This should bring you into the registry editor. Once in it click on HKEY_CURRENT_USER and then control panel. Once you have done that. Click on desktop, which provides a long list of files. In that long list there is a file called MenuShowDelay. Click it and change 400 to 0. now exit and restart. Your start button and all tabs associated should open incredibly fast. | |

Same. i have TONNNESS of REG tweaks (please say tweaks - not hacks :p :p) that I could share. But I suffer from acute forum lazyness at times. (ask demeitrie)
do u knw anyting about recovering files that u have deleted fr yur computer using ms dos
MS dos itself wont help you. the exeption being that you're using a FAT / FAT32 filesystem - then it will be able to help you fix ERRORS. not recover files. If you get software, then the dos terminal emulation native to w2k/XP can help. But any actual version of DOS pritor to the said dont even support mounting NTFS. I'd rather not.. divulge certain software openly though. grim454@hotmail.com give me a shout - and I'll give you... 2 apps that should get you sorted. word of cautio though. Do not ADD/EDIT/delete ANY FILES from the drive you want to recover from. To make a long explanation much shorter - you're basically lessening your chances of getting the data back! and WHATEVER you do - under no circumstances DEFRAG the drive - thats a pwning lul. | |

| if you're using the word, "recover" in the context of - Getting back files from a currupted volume. Then sure - the terminal can help.. basically. Use chkdsk /r /f C: where C: is the drive letter of the drive you want to repair. But as for recovering DELETED files (which is what I was referring to) no - dos by itself wont help you. Ontrack is allright. - certainly not the best though. 98 was allright. was better than ME for sure! in my book though (linux enthusiast) all windoze is crap. especially Vista. windows 2000 pro was the best thing they ever released. And note I said.. RELEASED. They didnt make it themselves - they brought in the veterans who designed the vax VMS system from back when to do it . | |
