Sony introduces "PSP Plus" featureKotaku reports a new feature called "PSP Plus" has been introduced for PSP games such as Resistance: Retribution. Users who own both the PSP and PlayStation 3 will be able to play PSP games using a Dual Shock 3 on a television. For this process to work, users will need to own both Resistance: Retribution, for the PSP, and Resistance 2, for the PlayStation 3. According to Kotaku, the “PSP Plus” feature will not require a firmware update for either the PSP or PS3.
The process involves plugging in an AV-output cable PSP (PSP-2000 and PSP-3000 models) and connecting the PSP to the PS3 using a USB cable, you will be able to switch on PSP Plus control through Resistance 2. Doing this adds Dual Shock 3 control support, letting you play PSP games on your television with a PS3 controller. It disables aim assist in Resistance: Retribution and lets the player alter their control layout to take advantage of the PS3 controller's extra inputs.
According to Gamasutra, Sony has also announced that PlayStation Portable owners in Japan will be able to directly access the PlayStation Store from October 15.
In the past, users needed to go through a multi-step process that involved first accessing the store through a PC or PlayStation 3 in order to download content that they could later transfer to their PSP.
No release date has been announced for the U.S. or other territories, but Sony is expected to launch the update worldwide simultaneously or near-simultaneously, as it has with the majority of its previous PSP firmware updates.
